Hello! I’m Michael Richardson, and I’ve been spearheading the Computer Science department at TechFuture Academy since June 2012. Born on July 22, 1976, in Palo Alto, California, my lifelong fascination with technology began in the very heart of Silicon Valley.
I graduated with honors in Computer Science from Stanford University, where I was not only absorbed in coding and tech innovations but also deeply involved in educational outreach programs. This dual interest in technology and education propelled me to pursue my Master’s in Education from Harvard University, specializing in Technology in Education.
My approach to teaching coding and tech is rooted in real-world application and innovation. I believe in equipping students not just with coding skills but with a mindset to think like problem solvers and innovators. My expertise lies in Python, Java, and emerging technologies like AI and machine learning.
At TechFuture Academy, I lead a diverse team of educators, where we focus on creating a hands-on learning environment. My curriculum is designed to encourage students to work on projects that solve real-world problems, fostering a deeper understanding of the impact of technology in our daily lives.
Beyond the classroom, I have been actively involved in several tech start-ups, providing me with practical industry insights
that I bring back to my students. This connection between the classroom and the tech industry is vital. It ensures that the education we provide is current, relevant, and forward-thinking.
My commitment to education extends to my involvement in community initiatives aimed at increasing access to technology education for underrepresented groups. I believe that technology can be a great equalizer and strive to make it accessible to all.
I’ve authored several papers on technology in education, sharing my insights and experiences in integrating technology into teaching methods effectively. My work emphasizes the importance of adapting teaching strategies to accommodate the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
In my teaching career, what I cherish most is witnessing my students transform into confident, skilled professionals who not only understand coding and technology but also its ethical and societal implications. My goal is to inspire a new generation of tech leaders who are not just proficient in technology but also conscientious about its use.
Teaching at TechFuture Academy has been a fulfilling journey, one where I continuously learn from my students as much as they learn from me. As technology continues to evolve, so does my teaching approach, ensuring that my students are always at the cutting edge of technological advancements.
In conclusion, my role as an educator in coding and tech is not just about imparting knowledge; it’s about igniting curiosity, fostering innovation, and preparing students for a future where they can be the change-makers in the world of technology.
